Carolina Contreras, a.k.a. Miss Rizos, does amazing work with women empowerment in the Dominican Republic. This is what happened when she asked me to support her with the sustainable interior design of her brand new natural hair salon.
To plant trees we need seeds! I noticed the Moringa tree in my street was loaded with seed pods so today I went out with some friends and harvested a bunch of them. In the process I learned that eating the green seeds…well, kinda puts you on a trip!
Yes, the first Moringa trees are in the ground! And a power planting session it was: some serious muscle went into planting these babies!
Pancakes to start the day. Anyone? These gluten-free yuca/sweet potato pancakes may not be the prettiest, but daiyum, they taste good!
Last weekend I was asked to present a brief Intro to Permaculture at El Arte de Vivir in Santo Domingo. Since I never presented permaculture in Spanish before it made for a good opportunity to practice!
Due to its amazing nutritional and medicinal properties the Moringa tree is also known as the Tree of Life and Miracle Tree. In this video I visit Haiti and go on a search for growers of this amazing tree.
So here it is, my very first post ever: the ‘killer breakfast’ facebook post’ that kind of triggered this whole Growing Dutchman social media experiment. Whether the post is worthy or not, this green smoothie + amaranth porridge will definitely get you through the day!
